ABSTRACT

Objective:To study the correlation of bone metabolism biomarkers between newborn twins and their mothers during pregnancy. Methods:From January 1, 2018 to June 30, 2022, newborn twins with mild symptoms admitted to the neonatal department of our hospital were retrospectively reviewed. The clinical data of the twins and their mothers were collected, including bone metabolism biomarkers of the twins within 3 d after birth and their mothers within last month during pregnancy. The twins were assigned into different groups according to gestational age(GA), birth weight(BW), the relationship between BW and GA(appropriate for GA(AGA),small for GA(SGA) and large for GA(LGA), birth season, gender, and the mothers' age, ethnicity, pre-delivery body mass index (BMI), gestational BMI increase, number of births and chorionic properties. The correlations of bone metabolism biomarkers between the twins and their mothers were analyzed. Results:A total of 302 pairs of twins were included. The incidence of insufficient or deficient serum 25-(OH)D 3 was 97.4% among the mothers, and 87.7% among the twins. The levels of blood phosphorus ( r=0.262, P<0.001) and 25-(OH)D 3 ( r=0.239, P=0.002) in mothers were positively correlated with the twin with larger BW. No significant differences existed in 25-(OH)D 3 between genders, AGA,SGA and LGA, birth season, and mothers' age, ethnicity, pre-delivery BMI, gestational BMI increase and chorionic properties( P>0.05). 25-(OH)D 3 in the twins were positively correlated with BW and 25-(OH)D 3 of mothers before delivery ( P<0.05) and negatively correlated with number of births ( P<0.05). Conclusions:In most mothers and their newborn twins, 25-(OH)D 3 are insufficient or deficient. The levels of blood phosphorus and 25-(OH) D 3 are correlated between the newborns and their mothers. The lower the BW of the newborn, the more times the mother give birth and the lower the mother's pre-delivery 25-(OH)D 3 level, the lower the newborn's 25-(OH)D 3 level.

ABSTRACT

In the research on cancer theranostics, most environment-sensitive drug delivery systems can only achieve unidirectional and irreversible responsive changes under pathological conditions, thereby improving the targeting effect and drug release performance of the delivery system. However, such irreversible changes pose potential safety hazards when the dynamically distributed delivery system returns to the blood circulation or transports to the normal physiological environment. Intelligent reversible drug delivery systems can respond to normal physiological and pathological microenvironments to achieve bidirectional and reversible structural changes. This feature will help to precisely control the drug release of the delivery system, prolong the blood circulation time, improve the targeting efficiency, and avoid the potential safety hazards of the irreversible drug delivery system. In this review, we describe the research progress of intelligent reversible drug delivery system from two main aspects: controlled drug release and prolonged blood circulation time/enhanced cellular internalization of drug.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the underlying mechanism of Tripterygium wilfordii polyglycoside tablets (TWPT) in the prevention and treatment of kidney injury in diabetic nephropathy (DN) through the nuclear factor of activated T-cells 2(NFAT2)/cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) pathway. MethodForty-two male SD rats of SPF grade were selected and randomly divided into a normal group (n=8) and an experimental group (n=34) after one week of adaptive feeding. The rats in the normal group were fed conventionally. The DN model was established in rats of the experimental group by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) following one week of feeding on a high-fat and high-glucose diet. After the death and failure cases during modeling were eliminated, the remaining 24 model rats were randomly divided into model group, valsartan (8.33 mg·kg-1·d-1) group, and TWPT (5 mg·kg-1·d-1) group. Rats in normal group and model group were given equal amounts of normal saline by gavage. After six weeks, body weight was measured and urine samples were collected. Blood samples were collected from the abdominal aorta, and then the rats were sacrificed for sampling. Biochemical indicators, such as serum blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (SCr), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), blood lipid, blood glucose, and 24-hour urine total protein (24 h UTP), were determined. Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining and Masson staining were used to observe the pathology of the kidney. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect NFAT2 and COX-2 expression levels in the serum. Western blot and Real-time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(Real-time PCR)were adopted to detect NFAT2, COX-2 protein and mRNA expression in kidney tissues, respectively. ResultCompared with the normal group, the model group showed elevated 24 h UTP, BUN, SCr, CHO, TG, and FBG, increased serum NFAT2 and COX-2 production and expression (P<0.01), and elevated protein and mRNA expression of NFAT2 and COX-2 in kidney tissues (P<0.01). In addition, the pathology of the kidney showed enlarged glomeruli, mild proliferation of mesangial cells, and widened mesangial stroma. Compared with the model group, the TWPT group showed decreased 24 h UTP, BUN, SCr, CHO, TG, and FBG (P<0.05,P<0.01), basically normal glomerular morphology, decreased expression of serum NFAT2 and COX-2 (P<0.01), and down-regulated protein and mRNA expression of NFAT2 and COX-2 in kidney tissues (P<0.01). ConclusionTWPT can alleviate 24 h UTP in DN model rats, protect renal function, and improve renal pathology, and its mechanism of action may be related to the down-regulation of NFAT2/COX-2 expression in the serum and kidney tissues.

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the effect of multi-glycosides of Tripterygium wilfordii(GTW) on renal injury in diabetic kidney disease(DKD) rats through Nod-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)/cysteine-aspartic acid protease-1(caspase-1)/gsdermin D(GSDMD) pyroptosis pathway and the mechanism. To be specific, a total of 40 male SD rats were randomized into the normal group(n=8) and modeling group(n=34). In the modeling group, a high-sugar and high-fat diet and one-time intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(STZ) were used to induce DKD in rats. After successful modeling, they were randomly classified into model group, valsartan(Diovan) group, and GTW group. Normal group and model group were given normal saline, and the valsartan group and GTW group received(ig) valsartan and GTW, respectively, for 6 weeks. Blood urea nitrogen(BUN), serum creatinine(Scr), alanine ami-notransferase(ALT), albumin(ALB), and 24 hours urinary total protein(24 h-UTP) were determined by biochemical tests. The pathological changes of renal tissue were observed based on hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining. Serum levels of interleukin-1β(IL-1β) and interleukin-18(IL-18) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Western blot was used to detect the expression of pyroptosis pathway-related proteins in renal tissue, and RT-PCR to determine the expression of pyroptosis pathway-related genes in renal tissue. Compared with the normal group, the model group showed high levels of BUN, Scr, ALT, and 24 h-UTP and serum levels of IL-1β and IL-18(P<0.01), low level of ALB(P<0.01), severe pathological damage to kidney, and high protein and mRNA levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, and GSDMD in renal tissue(P<0.01). Compared with the model group, valsartan group and GTW group had low levels of BUN, Scr, ALT, and 24 h-UTP and serum levels of IL-1β and IL-18(P<0.01), high level of ALB(P<0.01), alleviation of the pathological damage to the kidney, and low protein and mRNA levels of NLRP3, caspase-1, and GSDMD in renal tissue(P<0.01 or P<0.05). GTW may inhibit pyroptosis by decreasing the expression of NLRP3/caspase-1/GSDMD in renal tissue, thereby relieving the inflammatory response of DKD rats and the pathological injury of kidney.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the effect of repeated freezing and thawing on the clinical outcome of embryo transfer. Methods:A total of 48 cycles of twice frozen-thawed embryo (blastocyst) transfer in the reproductive medicine department, Shenzhen Luohu People′s Hospital from 2015 to 2020 were collected as the observation group, and 98 cycles of one frozen-thawed blastocyst transfer in the same period were randomly selected as the control group. The patient′s age, endometrial thickness, average number of transferred embryos, average number of high-quality embryos transferred, embryo recovery rate, implantation rate, clinical pregnancy rate, abortion rate, ectopic pregnancy rate, and live birth rate were compared. Results:There was no significant difference in age, endometrial thickness, number of embryos transferred and high-quality embryos transferred between the two groups (all P>0.05). There was no significant difference in embryo recovery rate, ectopic pregnancy rate, abortion rate and live birth rate between the two groups (all P>0.05). The embryo implantation rate and clinical pregnancy rate in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (32.47% vs 55.70%, 39.58% vs 66.33%, all P<0.05). Conclusions:The clinical pregnancy rate was significantly lower than that of the control group after repeated vitrification of frozen-thawed embryo transfer, which may affect the subsequent developmental potential of embryos.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the effect of ionizing radiation on chromosome aberration of peripheral blood lymphocytes in children with vascular interventional procedure. Methods:The chromosome aberration of peripheral blood lymphocytes was analyzed before and after vascular interventional procedure to assess the effect of low-dose ionizing radiation on chromosomes. Peripheral blood (PB) was collected using heparin as an anticoagulant from 26 patients before and after (within 10 minutes) vascular interventional surgery. Informed consent was obtained from the patients′ parents. Results:Dicentric + centric ring (dic+ r) formation increased significantly ( U=647, P<0.01) in peripheral blood lymphocytes of children after interventional operation. No correlation was observed between the rate of dic+ r and the cumulative dose (CD), dose area product (DAP), age, body weight, gender and the estimated effective dose E ( P>0.05). There was no significant difference in dic+ r rate of children between different genders, ages and lesion sites ( P>0.05). The dic+ r rate after interventional operation exceeded 40×10 -3 in 4 of 26 cases with the highest of 95.83×10 -3. Conclusions:The ionizing radiation during children′s vascular interventional procedure might lead to the increase of chromosome aberration of peripheral blood lymphocytes and some children are abnormally sensitive. Great attention should be paid to the justification and radiation protection during interventional procedure for children.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the carrier status of group B streptococci (GBS) in pregnant women of Mongolian and Han nationality and the neonatal GBS infection in order to identify the high risk factors of GBS infection in Mongolian and Han newborns in this area. Methods:Totally 7289 pregnant women and their newborns born alive were tested for GBS in the Affiliated Hospital of Inner Mongolia Medical University from June 2017 to June 2020, and their newborns were cultured for GBS, and the venous blood of newborns delivered by GBS positive women were detected for anti-GBS capsular polysaccharide antibody level, in order to determine the high risk factors of neonatal GBS infection. Results:Among the 7289 pregnant women, 3136 were Mongolian pregnant women (2599 full-term delivery and 537 premature delivery) and 4153 were Han pregnant women (3541 full-term delivery and 612 premature delivery). The results of GBS test showed that the GBS carrier rate was 8.19% in the Mongolian preterm delivery group, 4.35% in the Mongolian term group, 11.93% in the Han preterm group, and 5.76% in the Han term group, indicating that the carrier rate of GBS in the preterm group was significantly higher than that in the term group, regardless of Mongolian and Han nationality ( P < 0.05). Further comparing the GBS carrier rate of Mongolian and Han pregnant women, the GBS carrier rate of Mongolian pregnant women was significantly lower than that of Han pregnant women regardless of the premature delivery group and term group ( P < 0.05). (2) A total of 434 newborns were born by GBS positive parturients. The positive rates of GBS in Mongolian premature infants, Mongolian full-term infants, Han premature infants and Han full-term infants were 29.55%, 14.16%, 31.51% and 17.65%, respectively, suggesting that the positive rate of GBS in premature infants was significantly higher than that in full-term infants, regardless of Mongolian and Han nationality ( P<0.05). Further comparing the positive rate of GBS in Mongolian and Han newborns, there was no significant difference in the positive rate of GBS between Mongolian newborns and Han newborns, no matter the premature delivery group and the full-term group. (3) This study compared the incidence of early-onset GBS septicemia in Mongolian and Han newborns. The results showed that the incidence of early-onset GBS septicemia in Mongolian premature infants was 23.08%, and none in full-term infants. The incidence of early-onset GBS septicemia in Han premature infants was 26.09%. The incidence of early-onset GBS septicemia in term infants was 5.56%. The incidence of neonatal GBS septicemia in the preterm group was significantly higher than that in the term group, regardless of Mongolian and Han nationality. By further comparing the incidence of GBS septicemia in Mongolian and Han newborns, there was no significant difference in the positive rate of GBS between Mongolian newborns and Han newborns regardless of the premature delivery group and the term group. (4) In both Mongolian and Han nationality, the level of anti-GBS capsular polysaccharide antibody in premature infants was significantly lower than that in term infants ( P < 0.05). (5) Regardless of the Mongolian and Han nationality, compared with GBS negative group, GBS positive rate was higher in pregnant women aged≥35 years old, with history of menstruation, miscarriage, vaginitis, floating population, and those who had not undergone pre-pregnancy examination,,which were the high risk factors for GBS-positive pregnant women during pregnancy. (6) In both Mongolian and Han nationality, the incidence of chorioamnionitis, puerperal infection, premature delivery and premature rupture of membranes in the GBS positive group was higher than that in the GBS negative group, and the incidence of fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia in the GBS positive group was also higher than that in the GBS negative group. Conclusions:The carrier rate of GBS in Mongolian pregnant women is lower than that in Han pregnant women, and positive GBS during pregnancy will increase the incidence of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes such as chorioamnionitis, puerperal infection, premature delivery, premature rupture of membranes, fetal distress, neonatal asphyxia and neonatal early-onset GBS septicemia. The high risk factors are maternal age ≥ 35 years old, history of menstruation, abortion, vaginitis, floating population, and infection without pre-pregnancy examination. We should attach great importance to the perinatal high risk factors and formulate corresponding intervention measures accordingly, and make rational use of antibiotics for prenatal prevention, so as to further reduce the incidence of early-onset GBS septicemia in newborns.

ABSTRACT

Objective To determine the epidemiological characteristics and causes of an influenza outbreak in a primary school in Hebei District, Tianjin, and provide scientific evidence for the prevention and control of influenza outbreaks. Methods According to the Guidelines for the Management of Influenza Like Outbreaks (2012 Edition) , and the throat swabs of patients with influenza were collected for influenza virus detection. Descriptive epidemiological method was used to analyze the data in the outbreak. Results A total of 94 cases were identified in this influenza outbreak, with an overall incidence rate of 18.40%. A total of 12 classes were involved. The cases were distributed in Grade 1 (classes 1-9) and Grade 3 (classes 7, 8 and 10). The highest morbidity rate was 47.50% (19/40) in Class 2 Grade 1, followed by 30.95% (13/42) in Class 1 Grade 1, and the lowest was 2.86% (1/35) in Class 8 Grade 3 and Class 10 Grade 3. The throat swab samples were collected in 11 students, of which 6 tested positive for influenza B virus. Conclusion Students with influenza were younger, had not been vaccinated against influenza, and attended classes with illness, which led to the further spread of the epidemic. The outbreak has been finally controlled through strengthening morning and afternoon inspection, tracking non-attendant students due to illness, strictly isolating the source of infection, opening windows for ventilation, and conducting preventive disinfection.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To collect, compare and analyze the changes in the strength and stability of the forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation before and after the training in Shaolin Neigong (internal Qigong). Methods: Ninety first-year undergraduates were randomized into three groups using the random number table method, with 30 people in each group. The Gongfa (Qigong method) group received training in both Shaolin Neigong and forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation. The manipulation group only received training in forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation. The control group only received training in forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation for one week. The ZTC-1 intelligent Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) manipulation parameter detection system was used to collect the wave crest, wave trough, and crest-trough difference of the strength and frequency of the forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation on the Z-axis (up and down), X-axis (left and right) and Y-axis (backward and forward) at weeks one, five and ten from the three groups. The collected data were then processed and analyzed. Results: The intra-group comparisons showed statistical significance in the Gongfa group and manipulation group (P<0.05). The strength and stability shown on the axes Z, X, and Y constantly grew with the increase of training time in the Gongfa group. The wave crest on the axes Z and Y steadily rose in the manipulation group, as well as the frequency on the axes Z, X and Y. The control group failed to show statistical significance in any of the three times of intra-group comparisons (P>0.05). The between-group comparisons showed statistical significance among the three groups at weeks five and ten (P<0.05). At week five, the wave crest on the axes Z, X, and Y, and the crest-trough difference on the axes X and Y were more prominent in the Gongfa group than in the manipulation group, showing statistical significance (P<0.05). At week ten, the wave crest, wave trough, and crest-trough differences on the axes Z, X, and Y were more prominent in the Gongfa group than in the manipulation group, presenting statistical significance (P<0.05). Conclusion: Practicing Shaolin Neigong can help the trainees reach the level of strength and frequency of Tuina clinicians in a shorter time in the forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation training. It can advance the efficiency in studying the forearm Rou-Kneading manipulation and promote the quality of the manipulation.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To compare the femoral and tibial tunnel positions of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using the modified transtibial (MTT) technique and anteromedial (AM) portal technique.@*METHODS@#Between January 2017 and September 2020, 78 patients with anterior cruciate ligament rupture underwent single-bundle reconstruction with the modified transtibial technique in 39 cases (group MTT) and through anteromedial approach in 39 cases (group AM). There were 25 males and 14 females in group MTT, with an average age of (37.0±2.3) years old; 27 males and 12 females in group AM, with an average age of (37.5±2.2) years old. CT scan of the affected knee was conducted one week after the surgery to measure and compare the femoral tunnels positioning (Fx, Fy), tibial tunnels positioning in the frontal plane(Tx1), tibial tunnels positioning in the sagittal plane (Ty1), and tibial tunnels positioning in the axial plane (Tx2, Ty2) in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction through Mimics software.@*RESULTS@#Three-dimensional CT reconstruction after the surgery showed that the average Fx and Fy were(25.2±2.1)% and (34.9±3.0)% respectively and the Tx1 and Ty1 were (45.5±3.3)% and (44.7± 3.0)% respectively, while the Tx2 and Ty2 were (47.0±3.0)% and (39.9±4.2)% respectively in group MTT. In group AM, the average Fx and Fy were (26.0±2.0)% and (36.1±3.9)% respectively and the Tx1 and Ty1 were (46.5±3.1)% and (45.6± 3.1)% respectively, while the Tx2 and Ty2 were (47.4±2.5)% and (39.6±3.9)% respectively. There were no statistically significant differences in the femoral and tibial tunnels between the two groups (@*CONCLUSION@#Both the MTT and AM technique can achieve good anatomical positioning of the femoral and tibial tunnels, without significant differences in the positioning of the bone tunnels.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To analyze the biomechanical characteristics of bilateral lumbo-iliac fixation by finite element analysis after digital optimization of a safe screw pathway. Methods:Firstly, a healthy adult male volunteer was recruited for this study who underwent CT scanning of the lumbus and pelvis, with a slice thickness of 0.625 mm.The original data were imported into Mimics 16.0 software for 3D lumbar and pelvic reconstruction. At the same time, a geometric screw pathway and a free screw pathway were generated in the pedicles of L4 and L5 and ilium.Secondly, all 3D models were imported into Ansys 12 software to assemble a finite element model. The displacements and von Misses stress distribution were measured in the conditions of forward bending, backward extending, lateral bending to the left and right, and left and right rotations in the models of 2 kinds of pathway after gravity axial load of 500 N was applied. Results:The models of 2 different pathways were similar in comprehensive displacement and stress in the conditions of forward bending, lateral bending and backward extending, and in the maximum stress of the screw in the conditions of forward bending and lateral bending. However, the comprehensive displacement and stress in the condition of rotation and the stress of the screw in the conditions of backward extending and rotating in the model of geometric screw pathway were obviously smaller than those in the model of free screw pathway. The maximum pelvic stress was on the screw surface between 190 and 260 MPa, concentrated on the bending area of the 2 screws connecting the sacrum and vertebral body. The lumbar-iliac fixation model showed high com-pressive stiffness. The maximum von Misses stress appeared in the L4-L5 pedicle screw on the longitudinal rod.Under rotational loading, the upper longitudinal rod connecting the L4-L5 pedicle screw and the iliac bone screw bore the maximum stress. Conclusions:Our finite element analysis shows that double verte-bral bodies and long screw fixation are effective ways of iliolumbar fixation. The geometric screw path optimized by digital analysis exhibits better fatigue resistance, rotation resistance and overall stability.Internal lum-bo-iliac fixation can effectively share the stress of vertebral bodies.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To compare the application of epidural analgesia (EA) with intravenous analgesia (IA) in radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods:A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials of EA and IA in radical gastrectomy was conducted. Primary outcome was pain scores at 24 h after surgery, while the secondary outcomes included incidence of postoperative complications, first flatus time and (LOS).Results:A total of 6 randomized controlled studies was identified and 393 patients were enrolled in this review, 4 published in English and 2 in Chinese. Meta-analysis revealed that, the EA group had lower pain score at 24h either pain at rest ( WMD=-0.74, 95% CI: -1.35~-0.13, P=0.02) or pain on movement or coughing( WMD=-1.5, 95% CI: -1.95~-1.05, P<0.001) than that of the IA group. In terms of complications, postoperative nausea and vomiting ( RR=0.32, 95% CI: 0.18~0.58, P<0.001) and respiratory complications ( RR=0.50, 95% CI: 0.29~0.85, P=0.01) in EA group were obviously lower than those of the IA group. No difference was observed in postoperative urinary complications between the two groups ( RR=0.87, 95% CI: 0.38~1.96, P=0.73). However, the incidence of hypotension was obviously higher than that of IA group ( RR=3.27, 95% CI: 1.28~8.32, P=0.01). Time of first exhaust time after operation ( WMD=-14.01, 95% CI: -22.85~-5.17, P=0.002), postoperative length of hospital stay ( WMD=-0.69, 95% CI: -0.90~-0.49, P<0.001) were shorter than IA group. Conclusions:For patients who undergoing radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer, epidural analgesia could provide better pain control either pain at rest or on movement, although a rising incidence of hypotension was leaded, reduced pulmonary complications, nausea and vomiting were found, and promote the bowel function and shorten the duration of hospital stay.

ABSTRACT

Objective@#We aimed to assess the features of notifiable infectious diseases found commonly in foreign nationals in China between 2004 and 2017 to improve public health policy and responses for infectious diseases.@*Methods@#We performed a descriptive study of notifiable infectious diseases among foreigners reported from 2004 to 2017 in China using data from the Chinese National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting System (NNIDRIS). Demographic, temporal-spatial distribution were described and analyzed.@*Results@#A total of 67,939 cases of 33 different infectious diseases were reported among foreigners. These diseases were seen in 31 provinces of China and originated from 146 countries of the world. The infectious diseases with the highest incidence number were human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) of 18,713 cases, hepatitis B (6,461 cases), hand, foot, and mouth disease (6,327 cases). Yunnan province had the highest number of notifiable infectious diseases in foreigners. There were different trends of the major infectious diseases among foreign cases seen in China and varied among provinces.@*Conclusions@#This is the first description of the epidemiological characteristic of notifiable infectious diseases among foreigners in China from 2004 to 2017. These data can be used to better inform policymakers about national health priorities for future research and control strategies.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To observe changes of microcirculation in the superficial regions of acupoints of the three Yin meridians of foot during the menstrual cycle in young college students, so as to provide experimental evidence for explaining the saying of traditional Chinese medicine that acupoints reflect the state of physiological and pathological activities of the internal organs. METHODS: Ninety healthy female volunteer college students were recruited in the present study. The subjects were asked to take a supine position on an examination couch to expose the Yuan-primary acupoints Taixi (KI3), Taibai (SP3) and Taichong (LR3), and Xi-cleft acupoints Shuiquan (KI5), Diji (SP8) and Zhongdu (LR6) which are related to the uterus of the three Yin meridians of foot, the crossing acupoints of the three Yin meridians of foot Sanyinjiao (SP6), non-specific acupoint of the Spleen meridian Xuehai (SP10), non-related meridian acupoint Xuanzhong (GB39) and non-meridian-non-acupoint (being at the same level of GB39, between the Stomach and Gallbladder meridians on the lateral aspect of the lower leg). The laser speckle blood flow imaging technique was used to detect the state of microcirculation (average blood perfusion volume) during menstrual, follicular, ovulatory and luteal phases. RESULTS: The average blood perfusion volume (ABPV) of the right SP8 region was significantly lower in the menstrual phase than in the ovulation and luteal phases (P<0.05), and in the follicular phase than in the ovulation phase (P<0.05). In the left LR6 region, the ABPV was obviously lower in the menstrual period than in the follicular, ovulation and luteal phases (P<0.05). In the SP8, SP6, KI3 and KI5 regions, the ABPV was significantly higher in each of the 4 phases on the left side than on the right side (P<0.05). In the right GB39, the ABPV in each of the 4 phases was apparently higher on the right side than on the left side (P<0.05). In the SP10 region, the ABPV was considerably higher on the left side than on the right side in the ovulation period (P<0.05). The ABPV of SP3 in the menstrual phase and that of the non-acupoint in the luteal phase were significantly higher on the right side than on the left side (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The blood perfusion of microcirculation in the superficial tissues of Xi-cleft acupoints SP8 and LR6 is obviously lower in the menstrual phase than in both of the ovulation and luteal phases in healthy young college students, which may specifically reflect the periodical activities of the uterus in the physiological state, and provide a basis of acupoint selection for menstrual healthy care.
